Prudential Spirit of Community Award

In 2010, Risha was recognized as a State Honoree in the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards and flown out to Washington DC where she attended a dinner at the Smithsonian, a luncheon at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, met with Dr. Condoleeza Rice, received a $1,000 award, and Congressional office visits on Capitol Hill.

The United States President's Volunteer Service Award

Risha received the President's Volunteer Service Award, accompanied by a letter from the White House signed by President Obama. This honor celebrated her role in a "new era of responsibility" recognizing the significant impact of her volunteerism during a critical time for the nation.

State of California Senate: Certificate of Recognition

This CA State Senate Certificate of Recognition, signed by Mimi Walters, honors Risha for her exemplary volunteer service and leadership in founding the Kids Who Care Foundation.

Girl Scouts Gold Award

Risha received the Girl Scouts Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting, for creating IV Buddies, a program that sent craft kits to hospitalized children so they could decorate their IV poles and feel less scared and alone. Each kit also included a small hospital buddy set to help doctors gently explain procedures like shots and IVs.

35th Senatorial District: 2012 Student of the Year

This Resolution Recognizes Risha as the 2012 Student of the Year for California's 35th Senatorial District, honoring her academic excellence and extensive community service.Ā

Mission Hospital: Spirit of Giving Award

Scientific Research Publication

At just 16 years old, Risha worked as a surgery research intern at the UCI Islet Cell Lab. Through her work and contributions, her name was published in a scientific paper in the National Library of Medicine; an extraordinary accomplishment at such a young age.
